About me

Kerry
Kerry Birch Counselling

I am a fully qualified psychotherapist and counsellor with an accredited Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, and a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)

I have a wide range of experience working within the NHS and with private clients. I work with adults of all ages (18+) and backgrounds, supporting them through life’s ups and downs - from anxiety, low mood and depression, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, life transitions, identity questions, neurodiversity struggles, addiction and trauma, to those big “what’s the point?” or “what’s wrong with me?” moments we all encounter from time to time.

I have particular interest and expertise working with young adults, who often tell me how overwhelming and confusing life can feel in today’s fast-paced world.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years working in the commercial sector. That experience gave me a genuine understanding of what it feels like to juggle high expectations with the worry of 'getting it wrong'. I'm also a mum to two young adults, and being alongside them as they have grown, has helped me to appreciate the particular pressures young people face today. It has also strengthened my own patience, empathy and sense of humour

Outside of my therapy work, I enjoy swimming, reading, catching up with friends and family and walking my ageing dog.

"The gentle and sensitive companionship offered by an empathic person...provides illumination and healing"."
